So, here I am, writing about my latest obsession: a beautifully made toy, which at this moment in time is practically useless to me, and whose name is TomTom 720. The toy that responds to this name is a GPS device. I am very practical in nature, and usually do not buy things that I consider “useless”, but with this TomTom, things are completely different. The practical aspect of this purchase did not really matter to me. I discovered it while I was in Rome, driving a cute Smart car, and trying not to get lost in a city where I was already lost. I was for the first time in Rome, accompanied by my aunt who, even if she lives in Italy and has visited Rome several times before, still does not manage to get around the small streets of Rome. The presence of a GPS device in a rental car is a necessity in such places as Rome. So, when I came back, I had to have one. I bought it at BestBuy and have been using it since then. But, contrary to all predictions, I did not use it for directions (I did not travel much lately and I found my way around without directions everywhere I went), but to listen to audio books. Not that this thing cannot be done using for free the CD player in my car, but I just found it “cooler” to listen to the stories coming from my TomTom. In short, the auto GPS device can be used to listen to music, to listen to audio books, to view photos, to get directions, to bring a little bit of light in your car at night time, and to have an annoying travel companion that reminds you where you are and wakes you up in case you have fallen asleep.
It is worth almost $500, isnt’it?
