Alpharetta, GA-based auto accident lawyer Robert S Windholz takes a chance to highlight the positive for his readers, even in the most critical times of tragedy.
Mr. Windholz believes that every unfortunate end brings about an opportunity for a positive recovery, and a progressively advancing effort. So, with this, he outlines the lesson to be taken from this most recent element of tragedy and unfortunate situation.
Just last month, a resident of Readington, was killed in a four-car accident on Route 523. Police identified him as a 28 year-old young man. This strikes Mr. Windholz as both unfortunate and tragic, as he can’t help but observe the age of this young man, and the unfortunate extreme element of tragedy in this situation for him.
Catalyst involved vehicles involved in the accident included a 2007 Chevy Cobolt and a 1998 Honda Accord, both traveling in opposite directions on Route 523 in the middle of the day, at about 1pm when the sun is at its’ brightest and visibility is as clear as you could ask for.
The southbound-traveling Chevy lost control around a blind corner, a sharp curve where the end of winding road is not visible from the beginning of the turn’s curve, according to police Sgt. Christopher DeWire in Readington. The southbound Chevy collided with a northbound 1998 Honda Accord driven by another resident of Readington.
The Chevy began to fishtail, going onto the right shoulder and then back across the road into the northbound lane, police said. It was then hit on the passenger side by a third vehicle, driven by a resident of nearby Flemington. The third vehicle was then hit from behind by a fourth vehicle, also a resident of the town of Flemington.
A passenger inside the Chevy Cobolt was entrapped and had to be extricated by members of the Whitehouse Rescue Squad and Whitehouse Station Fire Department. The passenger inside the vehicle was taken to Hunterdon Medical Center where he was eventually pronounced dead. The drivers of the two vehicles were also taken to Hunterdon Medical Center. They suffered minor injuries.
The crash is still under investigation by the Readington Township Police Department and the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Collision Team. Route 523 was closed for about seven hours Saturday while the investigation took place.
“This is a tragic and unfortunate situation that I feel could have been avoided if the driver of the southbound car, the one that lost control, had been traveling just a bit slower,” professes Robert S Windholz, Auto Accident attorney in Alpharetta, GA.
“Blind corners are an awkward affair. Entering them faster than you should feels natural, but a third of the way through the turn, the angle becomes sharper than it looked. If you’re traveling too fast, your margin to fly off the side of the road, or swerve into the opposite lane, is far too great here,” he continues.
