Toner Cartridge: Laser Printer

One type of non-impact printer is the laser printer. The laser printer uses dry ink toner from a laser printer toner cartridge, static electricity and heat to place and seal the ink on the paper. Since opposing atoms are attracted to one another, objects with opposing static electric charges cling to one another. A laser printer takes static electricity and uses it as temporary glue. One of the major components in the laser printer that allows it to print is the photoreceptor. The photoreceptor gives out a totally positive charge. A laser beam draws out the image through the positive charge and sticks it to the paper. After the paper has had the image drawn onto by the positive charge it then rolls through the laser toner cartridge.


The laser printer toner cartridge is a specially designed component. The dry ink inside the cartridge is negatively charged. When the paper rolls through the laser toner cartridge the positively charged paper pulls the negatively charged ink atoms to it. After the paper pulls the ink onto it, the ink dries and the static electro charge disappears.
